Niccolo Brown 2016 is rapidly becoming the year of the awesome racket split with brilliant side apiece releases from Sonance and Torpor, Primitive Man with both Sea Bastard and Northless, and Bleak and Crowhurst, this being their second thus far. Bleak always sound angry but the ferocity with which they deliver the pitch black hardcore of "Simple / Bridge Burner" is nigh on indescribable. Crowhurst aren't musicians but noisemongers who want to make your listening experience an ordeal rather than a pleasure. "Sapling" sounds like the distorted recording of a juggernaut engine being revved to the point where its explosion is imminent and is about as pleasant as being beaten senseless with a hockey stick while watching an episode of the Jeremy Kyle show. I bought this record, so what am I, masochist or idiot? Both, probably. Favorite track: Bleak - Simple / Bridge Burner.
